The Literacy Source is served by a Governing Board of Directors that meets the third Thursday of every month in Fremont. Board members, who serve a three-year term, help support and enhance the Literacy Source mission by participating in long-range planning, providing overall program guidance, building a stable financial base for Literacy Source programs and representing the organization and its mission to the broader community. As part of their responsibilities, Board members participate in one or more of the Board’s four standing committees: Governance, Finance, Fund Development and Marketing. The Executive Committee, comprised of the President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer, also meets monthly.
If you would like to join our congenial and talented board and are committed to our mission of adult literacy, we’d like to hear from you. Skills and experience in fundraising, organizational development, finance, law, adult education, personnel or volunteer management are especially helpful. We are also eager to involve individuals connected to existing community resources and organizations, particularly those that reach diverse populations. The most effective board members have good interpersonal and listening skills, the ability to work in a team and support group decisions, and a great sense of humor.
If you’re interested in serving on the Board, contact Executive Director Anne Helmholz to learn more at anneh@literacysource.org or 206.782.2050
