This program organizes volunteers to harvest fruit from local, privately owned trees to be donated to Seattle residents in need of and limited in the capacity to buy fresh fruit. We also discussed P-Patches and their history in Seattle. We hiked over to the local Fremont P-Patch on 40th St and Woodland Park to experience the phenomenon first-hand.

Community Engagement Workshop - Using the Pharmacy

June 2, 2008

Three University of Washingotn School of Pharmacy students presented information on what pharmacists do, how to read a prescription label, and the differences among over the counter, behind the counter, and prescription drugs. There was a slide presentation and an opportunity for people to walk around to different “stations” and learn from the presenters. At the end, participants were given prescription bottles with mock prescription labels which were used to practice finding different elements such as patient name, discard date, and directions for use.
